District 51 website gets new, more user-friendly look

Grand Junction, CO –The School District 51 website has a new, more user-friendly look.

The website, www.d51schools.org, launched its new look the night of Aug. 1, 2017. The new home page features an easy-to-read calendar of events, quick links to frequently used parts of the site, a list of recent news, and a slideshow of colorful photos.

The old home page had become clogged with links as the district added more and more pertinent information for parents and staff, and information wasn’t always easy to find. When School Messenger recently purchased School Connects, the service D51 uses to send emergency notifications to parents, an opportunity came up for the district to build a new website through School Messenger. The district took advantage of this opportunity, and the site is now more concise, intuitive, and organized in order to get people to the information they need quickly and easily.

“As we transform into a 21st century district, it’s important that we have a modern website,” said D51 Communications Specialist Cat Foster. “We’re excited for this change. We know it will be a process to fine-tune the website, so we’re asking the community to please give us feedback so the website can best serve the needs of our community.”

The site will continue to improve and become more user-friendly throughout the 2017-18 school year, with more changes coming to pages throughout the site. We welcome feedback and suggestions by clicking on “Contact Us/Feedback” under the Quick Links sections of the home page.
