Meet the new superintendent July 31!

Grand Junction, CO – All members of the community are invited to meet Mesa County Valley School District 51’s new superintendent, Dr. Ken Haptonstall, at a Superintendent Welcome event from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 31, 2017, at the Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St. The District 51 Foundation is sponsoring the event with Mesa County and the cities of Fruita and Grand Junction and the town of Palisade.

Dr. Haptonstall began work as the superintendent of School District 51 on Thursday, July 6, 2017. He returns to District 51 after 10 years in Garfield County School District 16 in Parachute. His previous work experience includes:

  • Computer Science Teacher – East Middle School (1993 to 1999)
  • Assistant Principal – Fruita Middle School (1999 to 2000)
  • Principal – Fruita Middle School (2000 to 2007)
  • Assistant Superintendent – Garfield County School District 16 (2007 to 2008)
  • Superintendent – Garfield County School District (2008 to 2017)
